Bridging the Gap.

In 2002, Can-Cara Environment Limited (CCEL) became Jamaica’s newest utility company, serving communities in St. Catherine, and subsequently also in St. James. At the start of operations in Jamaica, Can-Cara was the first privately owned water and wastewater and sewage treatment plant in the Caribbean Region.

Providing for the People.

The company serves thousands of households with drinking water, wastewater and sewage treatment services in two parishes. At its current capacity, Can-Cara is able to serve up to 100,000 households with potable water along with wastewater and sewage treatment services.

In 2022, the company signed contracts for the new community of Greater Bernard Lodge, which will exclusively serve up to 20,000 additional households, in addition to industrial and commercial developments. In addition, Can-Cara will provide bulk water and sewage treatment to the National Water Commission (NWC) and certain of its customers in St. Catherine.

These services provided are subject to Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) for its operations and for rate setting.

  • Can-Cara Limited is a Jamaican-owned company that has been pioneering sustainable development for over 25 years. Founded by Joseph “Junior” Lincoln in 1999, Can-Cara is committed to providing affordable housing solutions and reliable water and wastewater services via its subsidiaries, Can-Cara Development Limited (CCDL) and Can-Cara Environment Limited (CCEL).

Billing & Payments

  • There are a variety of convenient payment methods:

    ● Visit Can-Cara Environment.

    ● Pay online through our secure Can-Cara Payment Portal.

    ● NCB Online

    ● Paymaster

    ● Use authorised payment locations supported by Can-Cara (details on the website).

  • You can pay your bill online using Paymaster Online. Simply create an account, log in, and pay using the information on your bill. You cannot view your bill information online.

  • No, late payments are NOT subject to a fee.

  • If bills are not paid by the stated due date, services may be disconnected after 30 days and a reconnection fee is required before water is restored. You will be notified of your delinquent status before disconnection. To avoid this, please pay on time or reach out to us if you’re experiencing payment challenges.

Service Setup & Management

  • To set up a new account, visit our Can-Cara Environment office or contact our customer service team. You’ll need:

    ● Possession Letter from the Developer

    ● A valid form of identification

    ● TRN

    ● A completed Can-Cara Environment Application form (from the Developer)

  • To transfer or disconnect your service, you’ll need to:

    1. Contact our customer service team.

    2. Submit a request form (available online or at our office).

    3. Provide updated documentation such as a new address or a forwarding contact.

  • We’re here to address any inconveniences swiftly. Report leaks or outages to our customer service department at (876) 279-8894 or (876) 507-2272, or notify us via the online reporting form on our website.

Service Utilities

  • Your water usage is monitored using a water meter installed at your property. The readingreflects the volume of water consumed, and charges are applied accordingly. Approved by the OUR.

  • Here are a few simple ways to conserve water and minimise costs:

    ● Fix leaks promptly.

    ● Use water-efficient fixtures.

    ● Avoid leaving taps running while brushing your teeth or doing dishes.

    ● Collect rainwater for outdoor uses like gardening.
